The Divergence of the Primary Position of the Eyes.

چکیده
I HAVE previously pointed out' why the text-book conception of the Primary Position is wrong. It is essential to establish the actual physiological Primary Position, because it is the basis of kinetic binocular ophthalmology. My view is that the anatomical position is the PRIMARY POSITION of the bi-unial eye. This position is slightly divergent. I propose to call this divergence the " PRIMARY DIVERGENCE." The consequences of Primary Divergence will now be considered. The visual axis of the eye connects three points, viz: the fovea, the nodal point of the dioptric system, and the fixation point of the visual object. The intra-ocular part of this line is practically straight. The course of the extra-ocular part is determined by the refracting surfaces it passes through between the cornea and the fixation point. If there are no refracting surfaces, this part is also a straight line. In bi-foveal single vision there are four possibilities, illustrated by the Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4. Text-books call Fig. 4 the "negative convergence." 256

The Biometric Values of Affected and Fellow Eyes in Patients with Acute Attack of Primary Angle Closure
Background: It has been estimated that 67 million people worldwide are affected with a primary glaucoma and that one-third have primary angle closure glaucoma. We aimed to determine the biometric differences between the eyes of patients with acute attack of primary angle closure and their non-involved fellow eyes. Methods: Twenty eight patients with acute attack of primary angle closure were re...

BACKGROUND Brow ptosis is a potential complication after upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of upper blepharoplasty on eyebrow position. METHODS In this Between April 2011 and March 2013, eighty three patients (166 eyes with mean age of 49.7 years) underwent upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The patients were assessed using pre- and post-operatively...
متن کاملAn Estimate of Radiation Dose to the Lens of the Eyes, Parotid Gland, and Thyroid Gland in Dental Panoramic Radiography
Introduction: Dental panoramic radiography (DPR) is one of the most frequent diagnostic X-ray procedures, the application of which is currently on a growing trend. During DPR, several radiosensitive tissues, such as the lens of the eyes, parotid gland, and thyroid gland, contribute to the radiation field, and it is necessary to monitor their received dose. The aim of t...

متن کاملAqueous Humor Levels of Soluble Fas and Fas-ligand in Patients with Primary Open Angle and Pseudoex-foliation Glaucoma
Background: Glaucoma is one of the most common causes of blindness and is usually associated with elevated intraocular pressure. In patients with primary open angle glau-coma the number of trabecular meshwork cells is decreased. Death of the trabecular meshwork cells may be a result of apoptosis. Objective: To investigate the aqueous humor levels of soluble Fas (sFas) and Fas-Ligand (sFasL) in ...
